Materials and finishes

Aluminium is our specialty, since it’s rust-resistant, lightweight and low-maintenance, making it ideal for coastal suburbs like Bondi, Coogee and Maroubra. All of our gates are made using only premium quality aluminium and Australian-made galvanised steel materials, Colorbond and selected timbers (like treated pine and Merbau).

The installation process

The installation process for an aluminium gate generally involves several stages. For a professional installation, the process typically looks like this:

1. Site assessment and measurements

We assess the driveway or access area and takes precise measurements. We’ll consider:

• Available opening width and height
• Ground levels and slope
• Existing fencing
• Available clearance
• Where hinges, posts or tracks will be positioned
• Whether the gate will be manual or automated

2. Gate design and selection

The appropriate gate style, dimensions, colour and configuration are confirmed. Aluminium gates can be designed as sliding gates, single or double swinging gates, pedestrian gates or bi-fold gates, depending on the property and available space.

3. Preparing the posts and foundations

Gate posts need to be securely installed because they carry the weight and movement of the gate. We prepare the foundations and positions the posts accurately, allowing sufficient time for the foundations to set.

4. Installing the gate hardware

Depending on the gate type, this can include:

• Hinges
• Rollers
• Tracks
• Guide systems
• Latches
• Stops
• Locks
• Handles

For an automatic gate, the appropriate motor and control equipment is also installed.

5. Hanging or positioning the gate

The aluminium gate is carefully fitted to the posts or track. We check clearances and alignment to ensure the gate moves smoothly without rubbing against the ground or surrounding fencing.

6. Installing automation

If it’s an electric gate, the motor, control board, safety sensors, remote controls and other accessories are connected and configured.

7. Testing and adjustment

The completed gate is tested several times. The installer checks:

• Opening and closing movement
• Alignment
• Gate balance
• Motor operation
• Safety sensors
• Stops and limits
• Remote controls
• Manual release mechanisms

Any necessary adjustments are made at this stage.

8. Final inspection and handover

We check the finished installation, clean the work area and explain how to operate and maintain the gate.
